T he Grade Keeper has been used at Heald College since 1982. It is a feature packed, easy to use DOS based program (Why DOS?) for keeping track of grades and to help with classroom management.

Red Check = features available only with the registered version

   Green Check Runs on any DOS or Windows machine.
Green Check No complicated installation. Just copy the files where you want them and run the program.
Green Check Easy uninstall. Just delete the files. No hidden DLL’s to clutter your system.
Green Check The Grade Keeper is small and compact (less than 250K) and can be run from a floppy disk, making it portable.
Green Check Data files are encrypted so they would be hard to read if they accidentally fall into the wrong hands.

Green Check Calculates grades instantly.
Red Check The Grade Keeper can generate HTML Pages so grades can be posted on the Internet. To see a sample posting, go here.
Green Check Low grades are marked with an asterisk to make them more visible.
Green Check Shows class averages.
Green Check Up to 20 possible categories for grades. Each category represents a percentage of the total grade.
Green Check Categories don't have to be created all at once. Create them on the fly only as you need them.
Red Check Categories can be color coded for easy recognition.
Green Check Grades are entered as percentages and can be any value from -99 to 999. You can use a dash (-) for assignments that don't count. Grades left empty are calculated as zero.
Red Check Can automatically drop the lowest grade from a category.
Red Check Can add a bias to any calculated grade.
Green Check Archives grades at the end of a term to make room for new classes. The archived grades are still instantly available if you need them.
Green Check Optional auto enter mode: pressing <Enter> after entering a grade causes the cursor to move to the next line.
Red Check Optional password protection.
Red Check Screen saver mode so you can hide data if you need to walk away from the computer for a moment.
Red Check Disable mode disables sensitive functions so you or a student can play with grades to try various "what if" scenarios. To re-enable requires a password.
Red Check The Grade Keeper can divide your class for group work. Groups can be created randomly or according to grades. Using grades, each group will have an equal spread of grades.
Red Check Names can be extracted to make it easier to pass a class to the next teacher.
Green Check Many printing options, including all grades for a class, all grades for individual students, roll sheets, groups, and final grades.
Red Check Names can have aliases attached to them so grades can be posted publicly, and students remain anonymous.
Red Check A 60-character comment can be attached to each assignment or test to help you remember what it is.
Red Check Any time you need to enter a date, you can open a small calendar window.
Red Check In a school situation, the Grade Keeper can be set up so that teachers can automatically update the program when updates become available.
