How to Create Your Own Tip of the Day

If it is enabled, the Tip of the Day shows up after the Splash Screen closes. You can add your own tips to the existing ones (see below) or you can create your own Tip of the Day file with all your own custom tips in it.

You can add tips to the Tip of the Day by editing the TipOfTheDay.txt file which is in your TrainTrack directory. Right click on the filename and select Edit. That should open the file in Windows NotePad. Make a back up copy of the file first just in case something goes wrong.

It's best that you turn off Word Wrap in NotePad so you can see that there is one tip per line in the file. To turn Word Wrap off, go to Format on the Main Menu of NotePad and make sure there is no check mark next to Word Wrap.

Notice that most tips begin with a number, such as "#1043" and are separated from the tip by a comma. This number is how TrainTrack knows what Help page to display when you click the Help button.

For your personalized tips, just leave the number and comma off, just as was done with the first tip in the file. You can add your tips anywhere you like, but use only one line for each tip. The Help Button will be disabled while displaying your personalized tips.

To enable or disable Tip of the Day, see Setting Program Defaults
