The default railroad is the railroad that will automatically be selected whenever you have a choice in selecting a railroad. Usually you will want to set this to the name that appears most often in your equipment roster. Before you can choose a default railroad, it must already exist in the Railroad List. To add the name, see How to Create a List.
To choose a default railroad for the currently active database, go to the Main Menu, click Files | Preferences, then click on the Current Database Tab.
To select a default railroad, click the drop down arrow
next to the Railroad Box to get a list of railroads to choose from. If you don't want a default railroad, then choose (None) from the Railroad drop down list.
You can use the arrow keys on your keyboard (
or 
) to move up or down through the list. If the railroad name you want is not visible, you can type the first letter of the name to easily move closer to it, then click the name.See also The List Editor.
