The Search/Find Function

To search for a specific card or cards, go to Edit | Find on the Main Menu or click the Find Button on the Tool Bar.

This dialog box works much like the Card Editor except that none of the fields are required. Fill in only those items needed to find the desired card(s). In the example below, all locomotives and cars with reporting marks that contain "atsf" will be found. The search is not case sensitive.

The following example will find all the cards which don't have pictures yet.

By putting carefully chosen key words in the Comments Box when creating cards, you can make searching for cards easier. For example, the search below looks for all cars with plug doors.

If you added "sp" to the Reporting Marks Field, the search would find all SP plug door cars. The more fields you fill in, the narrower the search.

The Cost Filed

You cannot type values directly into the Cost Field. Use the button with the three dots () to open the Set Value Dialog Box. Use the radio buttons on the right to select the search criteria. In this example, we are looking for rolling stock with a cost between $5.00 and $10.00 (inclusive).

In the following example, we are looking for rolling stock with a cost of $5.00 or less.

Tips

One of the most common reasons for a search to fail is that you have inadvertently left something in one of the fields from a previous search. You can use the "Clear" Button to clear all the fields.

The "Find All" Button will find all cards in the database and is not affected by any of the fields.

If all the fields are empty, the "Search" Button will work exactly like the "Find All" Button.
